Sketch Science fiction writers have been writing about future technology for as far back as H.G. Wells at the turn of the century. They often write ideas based on current science and then infuse them with fantasy or their extrapolations of where that technology is going. The Personal Dynamic Media that Alan Kay and Adele Goldberg presented was a mockup of a future envisioned idea.
In Old Man’s War, John Scalzi envisions every person having an external PDA and also an internal BrainPal. Sketch your idea of what the PDA and BrainPal interfaces and interactions might look like or how they might work based on the descriptions in the story? Scalzi is writing about a future state of people on other planets so consider how evolved these devices / interfaces might be compared to today.
Post your sketches and any annotations to the class blog. Make sure to select the SciFi category.
