I played the Oregon tail (1990), and for this game, I can see this being a very popular game at the time. Oregon tail feels like telling a story, but under the player’s controls for the autorun setup, and the sweet thing right here is the user can feel like they are involved in the story and see some visual movement on the screen, that’s ten times more interesting than looking at a storybook that has the set starting and ending. This game must be a very huge inspiration for a lot of types of games we have right now. The first game I thought of right away that relates to it is TTRPG, it’s basically a person telling the story and the main character will be all the players involved, there will be some event coming up and the player will say what do they want to do in the event then roll the dice to see how successful that action is, we can definitely see the shadow of Oregon tail in this type of game. Pong is just quick, competitive, and needs skills to play it well, and around the world, the biggest game is always competitive and skillful game, for example, CS-GO, league of Legends, DOTA, and Apex.
