DOES THE USE OF DESIGN SYSTEMS AND INTERACTION DESIGN PATTERNS STIFLE CREATIVITY IN INTERACTION DESIGN?

I feel that design systems often aim for consistency, which can lead to a hesitancy to explore new and unconventional design solutions. This might hinder the discovery of novel and groundbreaking interaction patterns. The pressure to stick to the usual ways of doing things can stop me from trying new and creative designs. I’m concerned that if I don’t follow the rules, things might not look right or make sense to users.
Also, having a set of ready-made tools can make me choose the easy way instead of trying something new. It’s like always using the same recipe because I know it tastes good, but maybe there’s a better one out there.
In these situations, I have to remind myself to find a balance. It’s important to make things look the same so users feel comfortable, but I also need to try new ideas. I’ve learned that I should follow the rules when it makes sense, but I should also be brave and try different things to make designs that stand out.

So, the trick is to use design systems to help me, not limit me. They’re like a helpful base, but I can still be creative and try new things. It’s about finding the right mix and staying flexible
