Lori Ann Cole is the game designer for Quest for the Glory series, where she worked along side her husband. She laid out the blueprint and her husband did the coding side. She has a background in fictional writing, elementary education, and film animation.
Cole initially worked as a freelancer for Sierra On-Line and eventually joined the company as a full time employee for her work on Quest for Glory. She is also the cofounder (along with her husband) of FAR Productions that is the developer of Shannar.
Cole and her husband got involve in the computer game industry because of the Wizardry RPG series. They played it with friends till late at night. Prior to that they played a paper RPG system that later became the foundation for the Quest for Glory skill system. She didn’t get into the industry after a couple design submission to the game company. It was her friend that got her foot at the door later on.
Cole ran into an issue as she looked to expand on the Quest for Glory V with limited budget. There were some talks with Sierra about the new project called Hero’s children. In order to expand the Quest for Glory VI, Cole and her husband decided to use Kickstarter to fund the game project. There was no license for the Quest for Glory game since a lot companies were in reevaluation whether to create a game or license the game.
Recognition – Corey and Lori Ann Cole awarded the Adventure Game of the Year for Hero’s Quest in 1990 by Computer Gaming World.
