Biography2
At first, I searched for Xia Peisu in Google Chrome, and it showed Mr. Xia, which made me feel confused. After investigation, I found out that Xia Peisu was very powerful as a rare woman in a social environment where there were almost no female scientists and almost all men. Computer science became an independent discipline in China; despite a messy beginning, the computer industry eventually flourished in China. Xia Peisu contributed to the formation of this situation. Marani exclaimed, “I have never seen other women of that era, able to hold such an important position like her and hold a core leadership role in their own field.”
She not only contributed a lot to computers, but also contributed a lot to computer education. She let more people understand the principles of computers, and cultivated many outstanding scientists. In the environment at that time, China’s technology was very underdeveloped. Many documents are from the United States and are in English. She translated and explained to the students word by word. She is great and admirable. And I am a bad English learner, I am still memorizing vocabulary, she began to translate documents to educate students. I think this is the difference between ordinary and great. Every time I see scientists, I admire them and admire their dedication. This is a state I cannot reach.
Also, the China Computer Federation has set up the “Xia Peisu Award”, which awards women scientists and engineers who have made outstanding achievements and great contributions to computer science research, engineering, education, and industry every year. It is enough to prove the importance of women’s contribution to science.
