I believe the general concept of social apps have stayed similar; to bring people together and communicate about interests, topics, and other issues. But, with the advance of technology since the days of The Well and eWorld, one huge element that I thought is crucial for the modern experience of digital, social communities are real-time videos; the ability to “live-stream” and record your thoughts/actions in a video format while getting feedback from peers at the same time (examples include Tiktok and Facebook Live).

nice illustration. I AGREE with you that social media platforms play an important role on recording/sharing thoughts. Absolutely, a virtual sharing environment is crucial for people.
I like your sketch very much. It is clear and easy to understand, and has made many small divisions. Also you linking with today’s social software. Good Job!
I agree that the ability to “live-stream” is a big shift in communities and the communication between people. These changes could make us maintain a relationship from long distance or different nations/time zones.
I really like your thinking on the impact video and live streams has had on online communities. It is very interesting to watch the technology evolve and the groups along with it. I wonder what our online communities will look like with the evolution of things like VR and AR as well.
I was thinking of streaming as a huge path for communities to form as well. I was really into watching people play scary games on youtube and then discovered twitch and discord. Then I learned that I like games enough to want to use those services and I wasn’t even seeking that kind of community. The accessability of the things on the web just made it so easy for me I was like, “why not?”
