After playing the 1990 version of Oregon Trail, I feel that although the game was lack of visual images and a bit overwhelmed with the text contents, the background story and the overall-flow of the game was interesting to interact with.
During the 80s and 90s, it was hard to find a game that satisfied the following: educational purposes, fun to play, on a digital platform, and simulation. The Oregon Trails’ background story is enjoyable to play, and some of the options were tricky. I think students at that time not only learned the historical context but also some life lessons – the encouragement to self-exploration, and life is hard, there are repeating suffering during the game.
Well put. I agree with your comment with the lack of visual image, but the game is still interesting enough to interact with.
