Some thought of Oregon Trail

When I clicked on the game page, I was attracted by the pixel design. It’s retro, but I don’t have the empathy to feel the childhood memories. After I use the keyboard to control the game, interacting with him is still very interesting. This reminds me of the storytelling course last semester. We used “Twinery ” to write stories. Users can choose different options to reach different endings. There are many interactions between this game and the user. After my research, the Oregon Trail involved themes that seemed to be historically accurate. I even felt that this game was too real. When I chose the farmer and asked me to buy things, there were not only many types of items, but the meat was a unit of pounds. Calculation. I think this game is a bit difficult if the user is too young. This is a survival game, users’ initial supply purchase; occasional food hunting; occasional supply purchase at forts; inventory management of supplies; variable travel speed depending upon conditions; frequent misfortunes; and game over upon death or successfully reaching Oregon. This survival game even encourages people to move to Oregon, because there are many stories and character work that is close to history. So this game does not allow users to experience a virtual journey but also allows users to make choices through rational thinking and combining history. I think this is one of the reasons why this game is popular.

I want to share the history behind this game, very interesting:https://www.history.com/topics/westward-expansion/oregon-trail
