The demo from the Visible Language Workshop presents interconnections between visual elements that share a similarity with Christoper Alexander’s Patterns. As Christopher Alexander mentioned in Patterns from a Pattern Language, “work communities will help form boundaries, and then form activity nodes”. In the demo video, it shows virtual building blocks which navigate the viewers in and out in a three-dimensional dynamic typographic universe. It contains relational techniques keywords for connecting information in a three-dimensional way, similar to the function of hyperlinks which connect information. Additionally, there are clear connected pathways in the demo that prevent users from being lost.
In the demo video, it creates an immersive three-dimensional environment as a dynamic space that allows users to see from multiple points of view. The concept of visualizing typographical constructions through transitional navigations and movements indeed leads people to an augmented reality or virtual reality world. It is common in digital experiences we use today, such as the Google Map app, which has transitional navigations and movements.
