- On March 10th, 1998, Macromedia Digital Arts Group released Fireworks as a free public beta; it was officially released that same year, on the 2nd of June.
- Adobe Systems later acquired Fireworks on December 3rd, 2005, and released to the public in 2007 in the Adobe Creative Suite CS3 release.
(Could not find any of the interaction designers or employees who worked on Macromedia or Adobe Fireworks.)
(Could find a patent for neither Macromedia or Adobe Fireworks. Only about their lawsuit against each other and for actual fireworks.)
- In the early years of Adobe Fireworks, Fireworks was available to download via the internet and physical copy. You could either purchase the program on its own or through the Adobe Creative Suite package. Now, Adobe still sells their software on their own or through their Creative Cloud package—all through digital download. Though, Adobe Fireworks was discontinued on May 16th, 2013.
- Over time, Adobe Firework’s intent of designing for the web and mobile devices stayed the same. It was also still able to export elements to Dreamweaver and Flash, even after the transfer from Macromedia to Adobe. There were, however, improvements to the UI that improved the visual hierarchy and display of elements.
