Figma:A Web-based Design Tool

Figma was founded in 2012 by Dylan Field and Evan Wallace. Some of the original designers who worked on Figma were Lucyné Babayan, Marcin Wichary, Bradee Evans, Tori Hinn, Nikolas Klein, Peter Herbert Barnaba, Rasmus Andersson, and Noah Levin. In 2015, Figma, the first design tool that combined the accessibility of the web with the functionality of a native app was born, and it is free for anyone to get started.

The original patent of figma I found out on the website was that Figma provides an apparatus for automatically generating a color palette based on a set of color presented on a document.

The users are able to pick colors from Document Colors easily.

Furthermore, Figma is best known for it’s real-time collaboration feature.

  • collaborative
  • borderless
  • transparent
  • community-driven
  • open-sourced

Figma as a web-based design tool creates a platform for all designers to better manage their projects.  Through the use of plugins and shared community features, designers can get inspiration from other designers all over the world.
