It’s important to have a basic background understanding of the importance of moveable type and the Renaissance as a time of invention, as an Interaction Designer.
Moveable typeface led to the spread of words and books to the wide spectrum of society, which enabled people to interact with each other with letters. This achievement eventually became a cornerstone for modern designers assuming users in different situation to read a language in diverse formats. We as an Interaction designer, supports human with letters and words to enable them to perform certain action. Icons, graphical format of typeface, integrates with letters and implies an action that people commonly expect to perform.
Renaissance is another important period that designers should be aware of. Inventions created by Leonardo Da Vinci all has influenced future with emerge of items including scuba equipment and vehicles. These inventions were enhance people’s lives and iterated and also being iterated to provide human a better and focus on their behaviour. For typeface-wise, some type founders were considering human proportion into producing typefaces. This attitude is what I think that the designers should have: support human and improve their everyday moment.
Can’t agree more with how words and letters support us to perform certain actions.
