Origins of Design Process through Moveable Type

As an interaction designer our products are nothing without the users interacting with them. We rely on our users to be able to process the information we are sharing through our intentionality. The emergence of moveable type was huge for the beginning of design as it allowed for the replication of text which meant that there could be a wide spreading of a single content. Moveable type was also important because it allowed for the creation of fonts and more importantly a design process at all. Moveable type gave those creating it the ability to think about the end result, and give thought toward why certain size or shape would be better for their outcome.

  1. Interesting conclusion for why moveable type is important. Do you think that there was no “Design Process” before movable type? No thoughts on the Renaissance?
