Arguably the most significant milestone of human history is the creation of movable type and its major development in the renaissance. Because of the mass production of book printing, knowledge is accessible for anyone whether you were rich or not. To me, that perhaps is the most powerful tool of both books and Interaction Design: the ability to mass communication. We, as Interaction Designer, may not necessarily work mainly with prints but our main goal is the same. A successful design can communicate with the majority of people. Furthermore, one of the Interaction Designer’s job is looking for ways to improve user experiences and what is the better way to achieve that than study from the past. The renaissance is the booming time for exploration and invention, the time for ideas to be materialized into reality and collective cultural knowledge of humans were recorded and spread. To understand the importance of movable type and the Renaissance is to inherit the rich legacy of the human’s physical documentation through history. I believe there is no perfect product since everybody’s need is different and technology will continue to grow. And by having a basic background understanding of the importance of moveable type and the Renaissance, Interaction Designers will never go out of work.

I agree with that new ideas and inventions will never lead interaction designers to lose their job! The world needs it!
