Understanding Moveable Type as Interaction Designers

As interaction designers and citizens of digital environments, we are constantly scrolling through news of the latest advancements and innovations in technology. It’s easy to neglect the idea that at one point, the technology we take for granted today was considered ground-breaking innovation. Particularly in the case of moveable type, the multiplicity and speed at which information could be printed changed the way it was circulated, and in turn, informed our engagement with information today. Looking into the past, we may move forward with full acknowledgement that the work we do today does not solely serve the population of current day, but influences the future collective in ways we may have never consider possible.
