Bauhaus Exercise

As interaction and product designer, it is important to learn about Bauhaus and Bauhaus had a great contribution to the history of IxD. To me, the revolutionary ideas that Bauhaus brought to the world can be concluded in three primary points: 1. Unification of art/design and technology. 2. The purpose of design is to focus on humans instead of the product itself, which focused on functionality. 3. Design should follow the basic rule of the law of nature. Bauhaus had changed the design/art field from the idea of idealism to realism. Today, as an interaction designer, we learn design research skills, empathy, and user-testing in school in order to design products that focus on users. The idea from Bauhaus had led great influence to modern day’s industrial/product/interaction design field.

In the color exercise, I don’t agree with Kandinsky’s theory of the effect on colors. Instead of yellow, I see red as a sharpened color because it is more aggressive and keen to me.
