Bauhaus’s philosophy can apply on interaction design

Bauhaus focused on the mass production of goods and how design could help everyday life. It was done to add soul to manufactured products and add social relevance to the arts. The rejection of ornamentation in favour of prioritising the function is Bauhaus’s philosophy.
In interaction design, we need to focus on the function first(user experience), beauty is the second, which is similar to Bauhaus’s philosophy.

In the colour exercise, I made the same decision as to the example. I agree with it on the yellow and blue colour. As for the red, I think it represents power, so I choose a square because the square has more angles than the others.

  1. Love the color test example you provided! Bauhaus philosophy is related to the principle we are using today during the design process.

  2. I presume that function is definetely an important factor in interaction design, however, things like usability, users’ demand and affordances are also significant points that should be considered.
