After engaging with The Getty Institute’s digital exhibition “Bauhaus: Building the New Artist”, I’m left with a newfound perspective in my practice. Particularly as a student at an art and design school, it is important to reflect on the legacy that Bauhaus has left on the arts, but even moreso in regard to my education. The rigidity and elitism often found in the field can easily leave one callused, but it is through playfulness and exploration that we may be fulfilled in our work. At California College of the Arts, we are pushed to explore beyond our chosen practice, and utilize our ability to problem solve in other disciplines. Although it is challenging, it only improves our adaptability in a way that is fun and engaging.
