Design with Intention

Design is problem solving. Design must carry intention, and be built upon a layer of functionality before beautification. It shall remain simple. Minimal. A focus perhaps even on sustainable, and aimed at the reconnection of humans to their natural state living among the world. Design should become less visible, more practical and most often centered around those that interact with it. There is to be a constant evolution to that of which is being designed, as well as for the designer. They must carry with them a handpicked collection of skill sets, knowledge, grown overtime through modes of experience and observation. A designer must not lose sight of the significance their designs can impose. Their skills shall surround the improvement of environment, social and cultural life. They must cherish the process of design, and each stage individually to form a stronger collective.

  1. These are all good ideas for a designer to aspire to but it’s not clear to me how they apply to you. What will you do? What do you hold to be important in your approach to your work?

  2. I appreciated when you mentioned “layer of functionality before beautification”, often times when people (who are not designers) think about design and art, they tend to go to the “beauty” route, which I think it is normal because funcitionality does not reveal itself right away.
