Safety is the term that came out of my mind when I was watching those trailers. In the shows, the society is under the control of technology, which human lost the ability to dominant. None of the world from those shows seems safe for me.
What is the purpose of technology? From my point of view, technology is tools that help human have better lives. Products should bring convenience and fluent experiences to the users from all angel.
How are we influenced by technology right now? The clip from the Black Mirror clearly presented how people changed their behaviors under the technology while everyone can others’ point of popularity. Even though the scene feels so unreal, the clip really reflects our current situation. The main character pretended to have and liked the afternoon tea only for posting. In order to receive a discount on the apartment, she had to do something she is unwilling to do to increase her point with her ‘official’ smiling face. Still, people gave her negative feedback which reduced her point and she got kicked out from the airplane, lane, and airport. So horrible!
Making the #popularity visible makes me feel so uncomfortable, but I do like the technology used in the apartment marketing ad. The combination of AR and projecting created such an attractive space for living. If I were the main character, I would love to rent the apartment as well. What so fun is that the ad with the projecting immediately disappeared when the main character left the apartment.
Making people connected like what happens in the Feed? Definitely not. The trailer showed how issues came out from the stax and lead to a bad result.
IOT reminds me of Tiger’s Thesis from last year. He presents the platform that storages all data in the cloud and by the time the user wants to work, the data will be available to be accessed after connected with a device, so the user doesn’t need to bring personal devices anymore. Making the online space and data more accessible is the ideal direction to improve technology, but safety should come first, such as privacy.
