The biggest difference between information architecture and interaction design is that information architecture focuses on making complex clear by arranging information while interaction design focuses on creating smoother and better user experience.
The information architecture is very supportive and even crucial to interaction design. When we visit a random shopping website, we can always see there are different categories of items under the menu and that list of different categories are the result of interaction design incorporated with information architecture. Users can look up items that they may feel interested in by categories and this design also advocates other similar items within the same category. This is how interaction designers of this shopping website achieved their goals of promoting products and creating good user experience for visitors.
If the information architecture is missing in a website, then everything will be placed randomly and customers will not be able to compare similar products easily. Just try to imagine how painful your shopping experience will be in this circumstance.

Haha love the last picture. I agree with your points, and it’s interesting that IA exists everywhere in life.
I like the last paragraph when you summarized your thesis.
Nice analogy of the garage sale.
