The future of the work commute system

I get inspiration from my Future of work project. My teammates and I think differently about the commute experience in the future.

After the research, we decide to make a connection between a private technology company and a government-based service. We finally came out with the idea which is a working zone through the collaboration between Tesla and the Caltrain system. We named it Mobiwork.

Here is the video of our product. Although it contains interior design outcomes, it collaborates pretty well with the whole user experience and interaction design outcomes!

When doing the futures wheels activity, I think one step farther about the design outcome.

In the future, the city will be well organized and there will be mega commute buses available on the mainline for people to commute. We consider people who may still need to drive their own car for a short distance, so we provide the parking area in the bus and people can drive in the bus just like driving to the parking lots in the cruise.

When people on the bus, we can book a room for themselves for working or meeting. The technology of VR or projecting will bring participants, who are not physically in the room, to the meeting.

The cafe can be just one part of the utilities for the system. People can also workout, hang out, or even ask for a massage service during their trip.

In the future, the system will be smart enough to collect all stops, destinations and calculate the route, which increase the safety and reduce the mistake.

  1. Very inspiring design and I found some overlap between this and the HyperLoop system that Elon Musk is building.
