Legacy

Midcentury designers affected the basics of Interaction Design—Eames, who designed an iconic Plywood chair, respecting hands, and materials. They also developed through making prototypes and iterations. Gerstner claimed that historical examples to address the design. He empathized that design should work with any device and anywhere. Sutnar, a Czech designer who affected America, suggested that the design purpose should be joy and happiness and explanatory and descriptive for better user experience.
Dreyfuss is another influencer for Interaction Design. We adopt solutions for accumulated problems based on the users’ experience. To Dreyfuss, design increases safety and improving people’s lives and work. This human-centered principle helps us to examine the problems and potential improvements. Moreover, it allows us to understand how users behave, what they need, through observation, analysis, and feedback. Through this background, we can provide services with appropriate navigation and vocabulary for better living and satisfaction.

  1. You summarized this week’s reading in concise language. I would also like to know how you find that human-centered design allows us to understand user behavior and needs? It might be more convincing if you combined some of the examples to support your conclusion. Keep up the good work!

  2. I like how you point out that we can provide navigation and vocabulary in addition to design.

    1. Thanks! I really enjoyed Dreyfuss’ principles and eager to insist his belief of design.

  3. ‘Improves Safety!’ You mentioned a point about Dreyfuss that I did not mention in my blog post.
