Both Charles and Ray Eames were contributors revolutionizing and simplifying interior design, with Charles’ architecture, Ray’s fine arts background—together, creating chic chairs. These successful design principles are used in interaction design. Layouts do not need ornamental designs if they get in the way of the end goal.
Karl Gerstner and Ladislav Sutnar are pioneers in the teachings of web design. Gerstner is known for his first ideas of conforming elements in design. These ideas are now used when designing the the various screen resolutions we have at the moment: for computers, smartphones, smartwatches, smart televisions, etc. The elements of a website or application conform to fit the size of its intended screen. Sutnar is most famous for his design of the elements themselves. Although these were graphic print design principles for his catalogs, these design rules are universal. They are used to make design more effective to help the users navigate throughout pages and achieve your end-goal.
Henry Dreyfuss was a great American Industrial Designer who focused on Human-Centered Design and Interaction. Dreyfuss created his designs with the intent to accommodate people both abled and disabled; reiterating and learning from past mistakes to come out with new and improved products. These principles are fundamentally applied in interaction design when thinking of the interaction between humans and technology.
