I always get impressive when seeing new things; I admire people who can think big and bring their thoughts to reality. After watching the “History of IBM,” I feel they are successful for a reason. They know where the problem is; they know who their target is; They know the generation’s needs. Therefore they can always be a step ahead. They make me think of today’s IDEO.
I also respect the old time, when people do not have tools like Figma and Adobe XD but needed to show a prototype demo. “The Mother of All Demos” video makes me think a lot. Technology is a tool for making our life convivium, not a tool for us to feel there is a gap between and it’s hard to reach because they are too smart. in this way, we lost our connection and the opportunity for interaction. I think this is not where we want to end. In our Visual IXD class, we are always trying our best to make sense and be as straightforward as possible to the user. It makes me feel I am doing the right thing for the future.
Watching the video made me think, “can I think like this? I want to think like this.” I hope I can do something cool like IBM. But I am glad we are where we are today so that we don’t have to do scary demo’s like this too!
I agree with you. I also appreciate and admire people who can think big and bring their thoughts to reality.
