PDA Sketch and BrainPal Interface + Interaction
Scalzi’s writing had covered many aspects of the possibilities that humans could interact with a smart device and its useful in making life easy and productive. The comparison of his fiction to the current smartphones as the following:
Touch screen – this is the obvious one and with the introduction of iPhone in 2007 had put a stop on the traditional old keypad out of date.
Virtual assistance – this is a controversy one because of the privacy concern over data collection. In Scalzi’s writing, he visualized that people will interact with PDA through voice. Well, the good example in modern world is Alexa from Amazon.
Other simple tasks – the combination of simple tasks like playing music, reading, note taking, setting alarm o’clock, etc. These are the primary functions of the modern phones. More and more functions has been combined and perfection over the years to a smartphone like iPhone 12 Pro, a combination of powerful CPU and camera.
I like the reference to the currently available products like iPhone 12 Pro and Alexa to discuss their similarity to the idea. Maybe to explore in a more wild way could bring more sparks for the innovation – this is simply a speculative practice. Nice work overall!
