The development of technology such as the iPod and iPhone were able to change the way users interact with their devices. The huge improvements that were made with the iPod and iPhone compared to other technology at the time, introduced a whole new level of user friendly aspects, helping influence this significant shift to the future of technology. The simplistic design of both these devices helped ease the difficulty of understanding how to utilize them. Elements of the design such as the touchscreen, accessibility and personalization features effected how the public perceived technology should look forward into developing.
The touchscreen aspect eliminated the need for any keyboard buttons and gave the design to both devices, a more innovative design. Not only that, but the interaction with the touchscreen compared to older technology was simply more intuitive to understand. The increased accessibility with the iPod and iPhone gave more activities to do on only one device. For example, the app store implemented in the iPod and iPhone gave more accessibility to more applications and more utilizations on that one device. The personalization aspect gave users more freedom to customize their devices to fit their own wants and needs towards the technology. Features like customizing a wallpaper or downloading which apps you want became a stepping stone to figuring out new inventive elements of the technology design.
This again, created that massive shift into developing new ways on how users can interact with their devices. This affects interaction design as a whole because it influences the designers to think creatively towards further improving user friendliness and tailoring design towards any user.
