Ada Lovelace and Lillian Gilbreth are important to know for IXD history

Female figures like Ada Lovelace and Lillian Gillbreth are essential to know for IXD history, but not limited to IXD history. Firstly, it represents how women lived and acted earlier. Their contributions were given to their husband when they were supposed to be part of the design process. In some extreme situations, they could potentially be the main contributors to the invention or the project. Ada Lovelace and Lillian Gibreth’s names are being remembered, showing that people started to realize the women’s contributions along with the act of feminism. More and more women will devote their time to their careers level, not being stay-at-home moms or wives.

Second, it represents not only social change for feminism but also helps women in IXD history. Suppose we introduce only male characters in IXD history. In that case, the females will feel discouraged by the limited number of females who got cussed in the industry, and it could hurt them. For the following reasons, people in the industry might bias you because you are different from the stereotypical IXD expert, so you will have a harder time looking for a job. Secondly, women who want to study the job will feel unsupported by their friends or family because male characters dominate this industry.

Last but not least, they are essential to acknowledge because more and more women will join the IXD industry and ask for a fair job competition. It would create a better and equal job environment and, ultimately, better design worlds. The job market selects people based on their ability to fit the job, not by gender.
