Field Trip Reflection

This exhibition brings together many different works that demonstrate the importance of social design and inclusivity. The theme of the interconnectedness of society and people is emphasized through art installations in different forms and materials.

I was very impressed by two of the works on display. The first was MUST Urbanism’s Sartblock Elzenhagen Installation: Building a Future Together. The main materials used were photographs and embroidery. The artist strung together photographs of people interacting with each other taken in the house and outlined the people with colorful wool. The installation illustrates the social relationships of the people in the residential area and highlights the importance of harmony between people.

Another work that intrigued me was Maps (Bullet Rug Series) by the artist group DETEXT. It is a rug made of different sized bullets, and at first glance I was visually struck by the fact that DETEXT collects discarded bullets and makes them into artwork that exposes the stories of war, violence, and military interventions.

All in all, the works in this exhibition are a powerful demonstration of the importance of a harmonious society, where people are inextricably linked from small communities to large nations. Only with good social design can we effectively build peaceful social structures that lead to a shared future.
