The Impact of Web 2.0

The evolution into what we now call Web 2.0 revolves around the component of going mobile. With the development of technology like smartphones, it became much easier to be connected to the network from where ever you go. Users who engaged in this technology found it more accessible to create social interactions and further produce the growth of media in which we see today.

Being able to interact with others online was not pioneered during Web 2.0, but this era helped grow the social aspect of many designs and features. Things such as tagging a person or liking a post are different social interactions that have been used in a variety of different websites or apps today. The growth from the early to mid 2000’s with these social features then expanded more and more, which greatly impacted how users are navigating through the web.

These interactions have helped different users find community within the web and create an identity to express themselves. Companies see this and accommodate to the user through their features to give users control on how they interact and personalize themselves online. This evolution basically saw how important socialization is and how that will both bring users and engagement to the web.
